Introduction
Abdul Sattar Edhi was born on 1 January 1928 in British India then migrate to Pakistan since 1951 after separation of Hindustan. His belong to middle class and humble, in early childhood Edhi mother passed way when Edhi age was 19 Years. Edhi Mother always advised to always helping all people and encouraging them by speaking soft instead of hardly.
Welfare Trust
As per advice his mother boarding all life mission to assist people
then starting the fund collection from his town richest and business man. Firstly Edhi trust provided to medical assistant nearest of town and after some period
of time delivery this medical assistant in largest Karachi city of Pakistan. Then
new trust started different project and completed successfully like ambulance services,
rehabilitation center, and orphan center.
Edhi started his first business in Karachi cloth market
during this working one important incident occurred in road and changes his life.
One Edhi went to
the market to buy clothes. Someone stabbed a person there. The injured person
fell on the ground and began to cry.
Young
Abdul Sattar got a scar on his heart, thought that there are three types of
people in society, those who kill others, those who watch the dead and those
who help the injured. Young Abdul Sattar decided that he will be among those
who help and then Chowdah, a clothing business bought an ambulance painted his
name on it, wrote a telephone number below it and started helping the injured
and sick in Karachi city.
He was
the driver of his company, the office boy, the telephone operator, the sweeper,
and the owner. While going Abdul Sattar placed iron grain in front of the
center. People used to put their spare change in it while passing by. These
hundreds of coins and a few notes were the total assets of this institution.
They went to the mosque to offer the Fajar prayer,
there a newborn baby was lying on the threshold of the mosque and imam mosque
announced to kill the baby by declaring it illegitimate. They took the child
from him and raised the child after child is senior officer in the bank.
They used to go
down to pick up the corpses and found that the corpse was lying in the dirty
canal. When reached there they saw that the relatives were not ready to go down
into the canal and take out the corpse. He dug a grave and buried the body.
When he saw women in trouble, he built a maternity home.
People continued to see his passion and continued to help him. It continued to grow until Edhi Foundation became the largest welfare organization in the country. This organization also entered the Guinness Book of World Records in 2000. Made the largest private ambulance service in the world.
Abdul Sattar Edhi
used to walk fearlessly in the country, where there was a police encounter or
riots were happening, the police used to shut down robbers and warring groups.
By 2003, Edhi
Sahib had pulled out 8,000 dead bodies and 16,000 newborn babies from dirty
drains. He got thousands of girls married
People would kiss
their hands, women would take off their jewelry and put it in their hands,
while young men would give them their motorbikes on the streets and sit in the
van themselves.
Everything people
is known Abdul Sattar Edhi after Quaid Azam and Allama Iqbal. Abdul Sattar Edhi
is not in this world (Died 8 July 2016) but the welfare institutions created by
him are engaged in the service of suffering humanity.
Balqis Edhi was
wife of Abdul sattar Edhi and support to her husband in whole of life during
different trust or charity challenges. Abdul Sattar is four child who handle
this trust network.
May Allah give
the late Edhi and his wife high place in Jannat al-Firdous. Ameen
